Be still my beating heart! Blue Sky Studios have released two stills and a teaser trailer to the impending release of the first Peanuts feature film in 35 years. Feeling a severe lack of Charlie Brown and Snoopy action in my life I watched Race for your life, Charlie Brown (1977) just the other day, unaware of the impending shitstorm around the upcoming film’s aesthetic.
With critics and die-hard 2D animation lovers up-in-arms about the new CGI animated look, Charles Schultz’s family approve and are behind the new movie – with one of Charles’ sons, Craig Shultz, acting as producer. With its release scheduled for what feels like an eternity away – November 6, 2015 – we predict loads of heated debate on the matter.
Also produced by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat) and directed by Steve Martino (Ice Age: Continental Drift, and Dr Seuss’s Horton Hears a Who), Feig reassures “Snoopy will not be rapping; no one will be twerking – we’re in good hands.” Not wanting to betray fans of the original comic book series or Schultz’s patrimony, Craig Schultz stated that “our No. 1 goal was always to be authentic to his work and legacy.” And, as far as spoilers regarding the plot of the movie, “It’s about a round-headed kid and his dog, and that’s about as far as I’m willing to go.”
The movie will feature the entire gang from Charlie Brown – Snoopy and Woodstock to Pig Pen, Peppermint Patty, Linus and Sally.
